MYTHOLOGY: Daehok was inspired by the Persian (ancient Iran) myth of Azhi Dahaka, the most notorious demon of the Druj class (Druj meaning lie or deceit). The inspiration to shorten Dahaka to Daehok comes from the evil god on Xena: Warrior Princess, although I'm sure they spelled it differently. There are also great differences in what the Xena writers took from this myth and what I have gotten out of it for my senshi. The myth says that Dahaka's body is full of lizards and scorpions to such a degree that if he were cut open, the whole world would be filled with them. His constant and favorite desire is to depopulate the world and extinguish the Sacred Flame, as he greatly enjoys destroying life. Dahaka is currently imprisoned in Mt. Demavend, and will remain there until the end of history, when he will escape and again attack the world, only to be slain by a great hero.
