SENSHI IDENTITY: Sailorio, the Senshi of the Satellite Io
REAL NAME: Kazan Tamamushi (Means Volcano Insect with Iridescent Wings)
AMERICAN DUB NAME ^_^ : Zena Tucker
BIRTHDATE AND SIGN: November 24, Sagitarrius
SENSHI COLORS: Purple, medium gray, and green
TEAM: A member of Team Galileo, a subteam of the Sailor Satellites
WEAPONS AND ATTACKS: The Dragonfly (it actually should have two wings on each side, like how it looks in the picture at the bottom of this page--the one on sio02.htm). It is a sculpture made of large green jewels in various shades, put together to look like a dragonfly.
- Dragonfly Flow: Io holds the Dragonfly over her head with its top pointing toward the sky. Jeweled dragonflies spew from the Talisman's head like lava from an erupting volcano. They go after the enemy in a frenzied swarm, flying in formation, and move over them in waves, again as lava from a volcano would. The dragonflies are searingly hot to the touch, and they bite. The swarm is so thick that an enemy seems to disappear within them. This attack causes the enemy lots of pain and could kill if used properly.
- Iridescent Ovum: As Io points the Dragonfly at an enemy, she calmly says, "Iridescent Ovum," with a smirk. A single dragonfly flies out of her Talisman and toward her target. It lands on their arm and bites them, quickly turning around to lay a single egg-jewel in the tiny cut. Within seconds, baby jewel dragonflies shoot out of every orifice in their face--eyes, ears, nostrils, and mouth. As the jewels are sharp, hard, and jagged, you can imagine this would hurt. A lot. (Jewel dragonflies don't become smooth and polished until they grow up, heehee.) It would do the enemy no good to swat any of the dragonflies either, as they are made of jewels, and so do not have soft, smooshable bodies. The basics of this attack were created for me by Sailor Morrigan.
TRANSFORMATION: Kazan cries, "Io Satellite Power, Make-up!" A swarm of dragonflies made of jewels glide from her transformation wand, reflecting the sunlight as they fly in formation around each part of her body to make her fuku. She poses in her purple skirt with its grey stripe, and her grey bow which sports a jeweled sculpture in the shape of an insect body with wings, as a Galileon senshi, Sailorio.
DESCRIPTION:
PLACE IN THE SILVER MILLENIUM: Kazan was the princess of Io, a satellite of Jupiter, and defended her kingdom as Sailorio.
OCCUPATION: Student at Mirai Mugen. She serves as the Floor Monitor for the fourth floor of the main dorm.
AGE: 19
EXTRA: Io's sister is Sailorarsenic. Within the last year and a half, Kazan and Doku's (Arsenic) father became crazed and went on a shooting spree at his place of employment, killing many. This is scandalous enough for an American family, but in a far less violent society like Japan, it would be even worse, bringing shame upon the entire family. It has been very hard for the two teens to deal with, especially since many of their peers ostricize them as the children of a murderer. In fact, the tragedy has separated the girls to opposite sides of good and evil, although they are not yet aware of it (until a specific episode). Although Kazan agrees with her father's conviction and death sentence, he is still her father, and she anguishes over the thought of losing him. This, coupled with how people treat her, makes her act quite grumpy and mean to keep people at arm's length. Essentially, Kazan does have a good heart, though, and does not want to see the world end like her sister.
MYTHOLOGY: In Greek mythology, Io was an Argive princess who was lusted after by the king of the gods, Zeus. Zeus' wife Hera became jealous of her husband's seduction of Io, so she brought much misfortune on her, including sending a gadfly to sting her wherever she went. The western coast of Asia Minor, Ionia, is named for her because she reputedly ran down this beach while being pursued by Hera's gadfly. Io is an ancestor of the famous Greek hero Hercules.
I decided to use the fly motif in Sailorio's profile by giving her the dragonfly associations. Other aspects of her makeup come from the satellite Io, which is a Galileon moon of Jupiter. Io is covered with active volcanoes. The reason that it is known as a "Galileon" moon is because Galileo discovered it.
